Poway Dog Park is an off-leash park situated between central San Diego and North County, making it the perfect spot for anyone who lives inland. This 1.75-acre off-leash area for dogs located in the southwest corner of Poway Community Park. Touted as the original dog beach, this stunning, wide-open play space was one of the first official leash-free beaches in the United States. This beach was adopted by the town council’s Dog Beach Committee in 1972 to ensure that the space would be available for dog, beach and surf lovers for years to come. Even residents who don’t own a dog love to frequent this site. It’s a fun spot to visit to watch the pups play in the waves and race through the sand.
